Here’s the trade nobody wants printed on a mug: the majority of altcoins are leveraged bets on Bitcoin’s direction wearing a narrative costume. When BTC rips, they rip harder. When BTC bleeds, they bleed harder. The story is real to the builders and mostly décor to the market until proven otherwise.
That’s not cynicism, it’s positioning discipline. If you’re holding a basket of small caps, you’re not diversified, you’re concentrated in high-beta risk that all correlates the moment volatility hits. Twenty tickers can be one trade wearing twenty faces.
The alts that eventually break correlation are the ones that build actual usage and cash flows that don’t depend on the next hype rotation. Those are rare and worth the homework. The rest are momentum vehicles, and there’s no shame in trading them as exactly that.
Not financial advice.
