Bitcoin Dominance Is a Vibe Check, Not a Crystal Ball

Traders love treating BTC dominance like a master switch: dominance up means alts bleed, dominance down means alt season. Reality is messier. Dominance is a ratio, and ratios move for boring reasons, including stablecoins entering the denominator and dead tokens quietly rotting out of it.

When Bitcoin leads a move up, dominance often rises simply because BTC is the deepest, most liquid entry for new capital. That’s not a signal that alts are doomed. It’s a signal that money walked in the front door first, which is what usually happens.

Use dominance as context, not gospel. It tells you where attention and liquidity are concentrated right now. It does not tell you what happens next, and anyone selling you a clean mechanical rule off a single chart is selling you confidence they don’t have.

Not financial advice.
